The Glacier Skywalk is designed as an extension of the landscape at the Columbia Ice fields in Jasper National Park. At a heigh of 280 m (918 ft) with its glass-floored observation platform and glass balustrades, the Skywalk offers unforgettable experiences and views. The horseshoe-shaped glass Skywalk with approx. 2.6 m wide glass walkway has a overhang of about 14 m and an opening width of around 23 m. The approx. 90 sqm glass floor consists of trapezoid shaped glass panes measuring 2.6 m x 1.2 m. Wear and tear was especially calculated for the expected amount of visitors and frequency. Therefore a wear and tear layer of 6 mm glass was placed onto the structurally supporting glass which is easy to replace once it has been worn down. The Skywalk's steel support structure was manufactured from trapezoidal steel box griders, circular tubing and sheeting.
