Zaha Hadid Architects are known for their fluid designs - gentle curves are combined with unique, expressive lines. Due to this architectural fluidity, the Sberbank Technopark - located at the Skolkovo Innovation Center in Moscow - features a complex façade design. Flat, faceted and curved geometries alternate to create a harmonious façade appearance. The complex façade geometry is one of the biggest challenges in this project. The roofs and bridges of the atrium consist of gridshell-like steel structures, and other parts of the building follow demanding free-form geometries.
The glass envelope of the 53 m-high building makes a significant contribution to creating a modern, light-flooded working environment. The first floor has an impressive floor height of 6.50 m (21 ft) and even the upper floors feature a ceiling height of up to 4.60 m (15 ft). The aluminum façade units measure 1.8 x 7.0 m (6 x 23 ft) and are manufactured entirely in Gundelfingen, Germany.
Design & engineering, manufacture and installation of around 82,000 sqm (882,600 sq ft) of façades for the futuristic office building. 50,000 sqm (538,200 sq ft) of flat, 20,000 sqm (215,300 sq ft) of single-curved and 8,000 sqm (86,100 sq ft) of double-curved glass for a total of approx. 11,300 façade glass units.
