The Ritz-Carlton, Glass Bridge
Toronto, ON | Canada
Architect

Project Feature
The nine meter long free-span glass bridge spanning across the lobby serves as an eye-catcher for guests and visitors to the hotel. The design of the bridge was evolved step by step with less steel incorporated each time until the simple, elegant design was developed. The use of large format glass presented an exceptional challenge for the supporting structure. In line with the glass structure of the 9 m long and 2,10 m wide bridge, glass balustrades have been used to carry the main load. Laminated glass transoms were used to support the glass floor between the two balustrades. These transoms are connected to the glass balustrades by means of stainless steel point fixings.
Scope of Work
Glass bridge and balustrades.
