Permasteelisa Group was honored to participate to The Glass Supper 2019, the foremost glass industry event that each year brings together the world’s leading decision makers of the glass, façade, architecture, engineering and construction industries. The event took place on Tuesday 10th December in London at the exclusive venue of the Guildhall in Gresham Street with more than 400 delegates.
This year, the event revisited Battersea Power Station Development, a project which was introduced in this venue by the architects back in 2014. The very same architects returned to update this year’s guests on the progress made over the last 5 years. In this development, Permasteelisa was proud to be awarded the Battersea Power Station - Phase 1, Circus West, the project designed by SimpsonHaugh and Partners and completed in 2017, and the ongoing Battersea Power Station - Phase 3A, Prospect Place, designed by Gehry Partners, LLP.
The event also celebrated the European headquarters for Bloomberg, designed by Foster + Partners, which has been awarded the bold Façade 2019 Project of The Year (New Build). The international competition, run by the Society of Façade Engineering, is designed to recognize, reward and promote excellence in the key disciplines of façade design, engineering and application. Gartner, one of the premium brands in the façade construction market and member of the Permasteelisa Group, and Permasteelisa UK were on the stage along with the Construction Manager Sir Robert McAlpine to collect this prestigious accolade. For this project, Josef Gartner GmbH designed, engineered, manufactured and installed the distinctive glass and metal curtain wall and the curved steel and glass façade, which features specially polished brass sheet metal. These bronze colored elements establish the rhythm of the exterior elevations while also serving to shade the office space.
