The Concept

At 178 m Roche High-Rise Building 'Bau 1' situated on the banks of the Rhein in Basel will be one of the tallest buildings in Switzerland. The extremely energy-efficient building with its distinctive wedge shape and the stepped terraces to the west, was clad with an innovative Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) with diverse typologies, highly transparent glazing and highly efficient sunshading.

Gartner manufactured for Roche Bau 1 a façade area of approx. 38,800 sqm (417,600 sq ft). The Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) from the 2nd to the top floor measures 37,485 sqm (403,500 sq ft), the CCF in EI30 quality as special design on the 2nd floor has an area of 115 sqm (1,250 sq ft).
