The Concept

Starting at the intersection of 125th Street and Broadway, the Manhattanville Campus includes the Columbia's Jerome L. Greene Science Center, the Lenfest Center for the Arts, the University Forum, and the Columbia Business School. Built on a triangular area, the University Forum and Academic Conference Center has a transparent, luminous and permeable ground floor dedicated to public functions. The other two stories contain an academic auditorium for approximately 430 people, with its associated support spaces, foyer, meeting rooms, classrooms, and offices. The auditorium, whose function requires opaqueness, is expressed with a prefabricated concrete skin, whereas the offices, which require daylight, have a glazed façade. Together with the remaining buildings of the campus, they will be part of the first LEED® Platinum rated campus plan in the country.
