Situated on a prominent site on Lake Zurich, the five-story development surrounds the Villa Rosau building. The ground floor accommodates a staff restaurant, conference rooms and a public gastronomy area while three main staircases provide access to the open office spaces on the four upper floors. The attic occupies and reinforces the corners of the building, jumps back on the long sides and creates spacious terraces on both sides.
The exterior pilaster profiles, which for the first time have been manufactured from one single structural bronze profile, are a unique feature of this construction project. The building’s volume is enveloped on all sides by a metallic-glassy façade and recesses add a highlight to the entrances areas. With respect to materials and colors, the façade creates an elegant atmosphere and makes reference to the garden-like features. The façade units - with a standard size of 2,8 x 3,5 m (9 x 11 ft) - have been glazed with triple insulation glass, with laminated safety glass on the inside and outside, 2 x 18 mm (5/64 x 45/64”), with argon gas filling. For the first time, a novel extremely pure and transparent solar control coating was applied to the glasses, allowing to achieve a particular glass Ug-value and to keep the internal temperature relatively constant and comfortable throughout the year.
Design & engineering, manufacturing and installation of 5,780 sqm (62,200 sq ft) of unitized curtain wall with external architectural bronze, 585 structural glazing side hung windows, ten lift and sliding doors.
