The Concept

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in partnership with Henning Larsen Architects, the project is a 17-story-high mixed-use development that will pioneer innovations in sustainability, aiming to become a community destination with spaces for collaboration, celebration, and relaxation. The building features around 17,300 sqm (186,200 sq ft) of bespoke façade made of aluminum curtain wall with terracotta elements.

Not only will the building be the largest all-electric office in the UK, but BGO has committed to the development’s energy being supplied from fully renewable sources, with no gas supply and no diesel generator on-site, ensuring zero fossil fuels in operation and during construction. As a result, the building is designed to meet EPC A and WELL ‘Platinum’ certification and exceed RIBA 2030 sustainability targets as well. The scheme is also the UK’s first office building to target a combined BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and 5.5* NABERS rating, the world-leading environmental performance rating tool which rates the operational energy use of offices.

Scope of Work

Design & engineering, manufacture, and installation of element façades WT-01-WT-07 in different sizes: Walltype-01 433 sqm (4,660 sq ft), Walltype-02 6,950 sqm (74,810 sq ft) with terracotta (white) and vents, Walltype-03 4,474 sqm (48,158 sq ft) with terracotta (red) and vents, Walltype-04 2,228 sqm (23,982 sq ft) in terrace area with pop-out‚ sash (PAF); Walltype-05 1,913 sqm (20,592 sq ft) aluminum stick system with different door and gate functions; Wall-type-06 480 sqm (5,167 sq ft) greenwall in the roof area, Walltype-07 81 sqm (872 sq ft) steel and glass façades in the roof area.
