20 Fenchurch Street is a stunning addition to the London skyline. Its distinctive design - flaring out from a narrow base to the wide, curved roof - is signed by world-renowned architect Rafael Viñoly. At the top of the 160 m (525 ft) high tower stands the three-level Sky Garden, featuring 360-degree views of the City of London and hosting gardens, an open-air terrace, and two restaurants.
The development provides approximately 62,200 sqm (670,000 sq ft) of Grade A office space distributed over 32 floors. The outer skin consists of 28,000 sqm (301,400 sq ft) of high-quality, geometrically complex unitized curtain wall. A full 8,000 sunshades were installed on the south elevation, each with a slightly different size and geometry. The transparent roof of the Sky Garden is supported by 34 structural steel arches - almost 1,000 tons of steel - clad with around 4,500 sqm (48,400 sq ft) of double-glazed units. On the east and west sides of the building, vertical louvres follow the tower’s curved form to frame the Sky Garden.
